The Tri-State’s new super trio were successful in their first game together. Newly acquired Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups suited up for the first time as Knickerbocker’s and paid immediate dividends, as the Knicks defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 114-108 Wednesday night.
In his impressive NYC debut, Carmelo Anthony scored 27 points on 10 for 25 shooting, and pulled down 10 boards. Melo seemed to thrive off of the raucous Madison Square Garden crowd as he made several huge buckets down the stretch, to fend off the game Bucks.
Chauncey Billups was his normal reliable self, scoring 21 points(12 for 12 from the line) and dishing out 8 assists. Amare Stoudemire scored 19 points, before fouling out in the 4th. The new look Knicks take on the Cleveland Cavaliers friday and then will get their first test on sunday when they take their talents to South Beach to face the Miami Heat.
