Cavalier Effort

Cleveland fans stood in ovation as the Cleveland Cavaliers upset the New York Knicks 115-109 friday night.  In only the second game of the Melo Era in New York, a reason for concern has been found.

The Knicks’ lack of defense came to the forefront as the Cavs’ trio of J.J. Hickson, Antawn Jamison, and Ramon Sessions shredded the Knicks defense for a combined 74 points and 36 rebounds.  The lack of size for the Knicks also cost them, as the Cavs out-rebounded them by 20.

Offensively, the big three of the Knicks put up big numbers.  Amare Stoudemire led the way with, 31 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 blocks.  Carmelo Anthony finished with 27 points and 8 rebounds, while icing his elbow throughout the second half.  Chauncey Billups added 26 points and 8 assists.

The Knicks will need another big effort from their stars if they want to avoid a two game losing streak, as they will visit the Miami Heat on sunday.
