Another one seed has fallen. The top ranked Duke Blue Devils were upset by unranked Virginia Tech saturday night.
Virginia Tech used a 19-9 run in the last 6 minutes of the game after trailing 51-45, to race past the Blue Devils. Va Tech was led by Jeff Allen’s 18 points and 15 rebounds.
With the loss, Duke falls to 26-3 on the season. The Hokies who improved to 19-8, may have gotten that signature victory that they needed to take them off the bubble and into the NCAA Tournament field.
In the other high profile game of the day, 7th ranked BYU knocked off 6th ranked San Diego State for the second time this season. BYU’s player of the year candidate Jimmer Fredette led the way with 25 points and 9 assists as BYU won 80-67.
