Still Roaring

The Memphis Grizzlies are still roaring and have their sights set in the 7th seed in the Western Conference.

The Grizzlies improved to 40-32 with a 90-87 over the Boston Celtics wednesday night. The game was very close, with Memphis making more shots down the stretch than Boston. Glen Davis and Paul Pierce missed game tying three pointers in the final 15 seconds of the game.

The win was especially special for former Celtics, Tony Allen and Leon Powe. Allen finished with 8 points, but it was Powe’s 13 points off the bench that contributed most to the win. I’m sure Danny Ainge wishes he had went after Powe instead of Troy Murphy. The Celtics were lead by Paul Pierce who scored 22 points in a losing effort.

The Grizzlies are for real and are putting teams on notice. Although I do not expect them to win a series, they will be a tough out for any team in the first round. Allen has provided much needed champion leadership to a young squad. The acquisition of Powe has only added to that championship experience.
