It took 10 innings but the Boston Red Sox regained sole possession of first place in the AL East with a 3-2 victory to win the weekend series over the NY Yankees.
The Sox used a 9th inning rally off of Mariano Rivera to send the game to extras. After a leadoff double from David Ortiz, and a intentional walk to Carl Crawford in the bottom of the 10th, Rookie Josh Reddick came to bat. Reddick promptly laced a single to left field to score Darnell McDonald who had pinched-ran for Ortiz, for the winning run.
