Paterno Fired

Joe Paterno has been fired as the head football coach at Penn State University.  Along with Paterno, Penn State’s president Graham Spanier was also fired by the Penn State Board of Trustees.

Paterno was fired for not doing all he could after being told about an allegation of child sex abuse against former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.  Sandusky was charged with over 40 counts of molesting 8 boys between 1994 and 2009.  What are your thoughts on Joe Pa’s firing?

  1. They should hang all that knew, including the ‘great’ Joe Paterno by their ‘short hairs’. What a disgrace! If Paterno would have run to the authorities, (including the school President), when he knew there were illegal acts being done to kids with the same passion that he’s run his football team, he would still have a job and would have been coaching Penn State’s last home game this Saturday.
The kids are the real victims in this horror story!

  2. I’m really glad they did the right thing and fired him. They finally showed that Paterno isn’t truly the guy in power and it would have been really sad if they didn’t fire him. No one should feel sympathetic or sorry for Paterno. The students shouldn’t be chanting his name or calling for a proper send-off. After Paterno’s ego very foolishly decided not to retire immediately, this is exactly the way it had to end. Also, you think you could check out my blog cuz I’d love to hear what you have to say http://chrisross91.wordpress.com/2011/11/09/what-else-should-we-expect/
