The Detroit Tigers are heading to the World Series after sweeping the New York Yankees to win the American League.
The Tigers pounced on Yankees early in game four and never looked back en route to a 8-1 victory. AL MVP front-runner Miguel Cabrera hit his first home run of the series in the win. Jhonny Peralta homered twice for Detroit. The Tigers dominated the series from start to finish and never trailed in any game.
The Tigers will now await the winner of the NLCS, in which the St. Louis Cardinals lead the San Francisco Giants 2-1.
