The final day of the opening round of 2011 NCAA Tournament just finished, with Texas-San Antonio, and VCU advancing to round 2.
In the first game, Texas-San Antonio took care of Alabama State, 70-61. Texas-San Antonio’s reward for victory is a matchup with top seeded Ohio State on friday.
In the late game, Shaka Smart and his VCU team proved they belonged in the tournament with a statement victory over USC, 59-46. VCU, an 11 seed, will meet up with 6 seed Georgetown in round 2.
The rest of the tournament gets going tomorrow with 16 round two games on the docket.
