In the day’s first game the Chicago Bulls used a late fourth quarter run to avoid a game 1 upset to the Indiana Pacers. Chicago was led by Derrick Rose’s 39 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Danny Granger led the Pacers with 24 points.
Heat 97 76ers 89

The Miami Heat came back from an early deficit and then managed to fend off a furious fourth quarter rally to defeat the Philadelphia 76ers in game 1. Chris Bosh led the Heat with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Thaddeus Young led the Sixers with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Hawks 103 Magic 93

In the day’s lone seed upset the Atlanta Hawks stole game 1 in Orlando. The Hawks withstood a 30 point first half by Dwight Howard and a 26 point second half from Jameer Nelson. Howard would finish with 46 points and Nelson 27 points. Atlanta used a more balanced attack, with five Hawks scoring in double figures. Joe Johnson led the way with 25 points and Jamal Crawford followed with 23 points.

In a defensive struggle the Mavericks used an 18 point fourth quarter from Dirk Nowitzki, and 6 Jason Kidd threes to outlast the Blazers. Nowitzki finished with 28 points and Kidd 24 points. The Blazers were led by LaMarcus Aldridge’s 27 points.
