In the day’s first game the 8th seed Memphis Grizzlies upset the top seed San Antonio Spurs. The Grizzlies were led by Zach Randolph’s 25 points and 14 points. Marc Gasol added 24 points. The win was the first playoff victory in the Grizzlies’ franchise history. Tony Parker scored 20 points in a losing effort for the Spurs.

The two-time defending champs’ 2nd title defense got off to a rough start as the Hornets shocked the Lakers in game 1. Chris Paul torched the Lakers defense for 33 points, 14 assists, and 7 rebounds. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 34 points
Celtics 87 Knicks 85
Bos leads 1-0
The Boston Celtics overcame a 12 point halftime deficit to defeat the New York Knicks. Ray Allen nailed a game winning 3 with 11.2 seconds left to play. Carmelo Anthony would miss a long 3 on New York’s final possession. Ray Allen led the Celtics with 24 points. Amare Stoudemire made an array of tough shots on his way to 28 points.

After falling behind big early the Oklahoma City Thunder came back to defeat the Denver Nuggets in game 1. In a very entertaining contest, Kevin Durant exploded for 41 points. Russell Westbrook scored a career playoff high 31 points. Nene was the high point man for the Nuggets scoring 22 points.
