Mavericks 96 Lakers 94
Dal leads 1-0
Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks went into Staples Arena and stole game 1 of their second round series with the Los Angeles Lakers. After trailing by as many as 16 points early in the 3rd quarters the Mavs fought their way back into the game. They trailed by one with 19 seconds, when Dirk Nowitzki was fouled by Pau Gasol on an inbound pass. Nowitzki would make both free throws to put Dallas up 95-94. On LA’s next possession Kobe Bryant lost the ball after he was tripped up, and no foul call. After Jason Kidd made one of two from the line, Kobe Bryant missed a game winning three as time expired.
Dirk Nowitzki had a monster game with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 36 points.
Just want to mention that this was another poorly officiated game. Fortunately both teams fell victim to terrible calls/ no calls, so that it didn’t favor one team over the other.
