Mavericks 122 Lakers 86
Dal wins 4-0
There will be no Lakers 3-peat and there will be a new NBA Champion this year. The Dallas Mavericks scored early and often to win game 4 and sweep the defending champions out of the playoffs. Jason Terry tied a NBA Playoff high of 9 three point field goals made in a game. Terry finished with 32 points. Northeastern University product Jose Juan Barea came off the bench to score 22 points. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 17 points.
The loss ended any hopes of a Lakers 3-peat, Phil Jackson’s 12th title, and Kobe Bryant’s 6th title. The loss also ended the career of arguably the greatest coach of all time in Phil Jackson. Jackson said that this year would be his last. Late in the game Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum showed their frustration over being dethroned as they took cheap shots at Dirk Nowitzki and Jose Juan Barea.
