Boston Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield finally won his 200th game tonight in a 18-6 thrashing of the Toronto Blue Jays. It was a win that the Red Sox badly needed after losing five in a row and seeing their wild card lead over the Rays dwindle down to 3 games.
Wakefield allowed 5 runs over 6 innings but the Sox bats woke up and provided Wakefield with more than enough insurance.
Boston was led offensively by Dustin Pedroia who homered twice and drove in 5 runs. Pedroia now has 20 homers and 82 RBI’s on the season. Jacoby Ellsbury drove in 3 runs including his 27th home run of the season. The MVP hopeful now has 94 RBI’s. Jose Bautista of the Blue Jays blasted his 42nd home run of the season in the 3rd inning.
