After correctly picking the winners in both NFC Wild Card matchups, I will hope to do the same this weekend for the Divisional Round.
(4) New York Giants vs. (1) Green Bay Packers
The G-Men put together a tremendous defensive performance last week en route to a 24-2 victory over the explosive Atlanta Falcons. Although I do expect the Giants defense to give the Packers some trouble, I believe it will come down to the quarterbacks. In the end I think Aaron Rodgers will make just a few more plays than Eli Manning. Even the Packers defense was statistically the worst in the league, I see them making one huge play late to seal the game. Look for either Charles Woodson or Clay Matthews to make a play. I like Green Bay in a close one 20-17.
(3) New Orleans Saints vs. (2) San Francisco 49ers
As expected, Drew Brees and the high octane Saints offense put up huge numbers to top the Lions. I don’t think we will see nearly as many points scored in this matchup with the 49ers. San Fran brings to the fight a tough and aggressive defense that cannot be ran on. This means that the pressure falls solely on the arm of Drew Brees. I believe Brees can pass successfully on the Niners secondary, they have too many weapons. San Fran is going to have to score more than 20 to win. Even though the Saints defense isn’t great, I don’t trust Alex Smith in a playoff game. I like the Saints in this one 27-17.
