The 2012 NBA Playoffs are here! After an exciting lockout shortened season, we have an intriguing set of first round matches. Let’s kick things off with out Eastern Conference first round predictions.

Eastern Conference

(1)Chicago Bulls vs (8)Philadelphia 76ers

Even with Derrick Rose missing significant time in the regular season, Chicago’s defense will stifle Philly and win this series easy 4-1.

(2)Miami Heat vs (7)New York Knicks

The Knicks are the trendy pick but I’m not buying in. NY’s defense is not at the level yet to where they could pose a threat to Miami. The Heat should take the series 4-1.

(3)Indiana Pacers vs (6)Orlando Magic

Even without Dwight Howard, Orlando will make this series tougher than many people think. That being said, Indiana will pull this series out 4-2.

(4)Boston Celtics vs (5)Atlanta Hawks

Atlanta will be without two key big men and that will hurt them. Look for Boston to hone in on Josh Smith and Joe Johnson defensively, while featuring a balanced offensive attack en route to a 4-2 series victory.
